Hi everyone,
I'm going to do an oral interpretation for my speech class next week.
May you guys please suggest for me some good, sad, prose pieces that I can do for my
oral interpretation speech in 4 to 6 minutes.
Thanks

I may actually go to regionals with my piece. I do Poetry. My piece this year is Tim Burtons the Nightmare before Christmas. I blew it out of the water at locals. It was so much fun. I love poetry, but I am going to do drama and poetry next year. It shall be fun. I am trying to find a drama piece though.

Another piece about living up to/failing to live up to expectations [Sep. 4th, 2010|05:00 pm]

I'm already thinking about doing Two Kinds by Amy Tan. If anyone can suggest a piece that can connect with Amy Tan's somehow (preferably about expectations), that would be great. :)

I'm looking for a good children's story to do for Storytelling.  I'm not sure if many of you count Storytelling as an interp event, but I certainly do.  In the past I've done Shrek, Bedhead, and things of that nature.  I'm looking for a hilarious children's book that I could add innuendos into if that makes sense.

Thanks guys<3

TWO KINDS
AMY TAN

The narrator is a young Asian girl who has a culture issue with her Chinese mother. I did fairly well with this piece, but it's pushing 10:30 depending on how you read it.

My mother believed you could be anything you wanted to be in America...Collapse )

A Memory Magically Interrupted
By ROBERT LELEUX

“YOUR grandmother has Alzheimer’s, right?” the doctor asked me, scrawling notes into a floppy manila folder.

I hadn’t expected to discuss my grandmother’s Alzheimer’s with him. I was hoping to hear some explanation as to why, apart from her memory, my grandmother’s overall health seemed so mysteriously improved. Her lupus, for instance, had all but disappeared from her blood work.

“Yes, but ...” I began.Read more...Collapse )

Hey all. I do DI and I need a monologue...but I'm REALLY picky!

Actually, I really want to do something as/about Anne Boleyn--anyone know any scripts for that?

If not, I'd like any other suggestions. I'm a girl, but I'm open to playing a guy. I want something that will really allow me to show a lot of range, since I like getting into a role (though I think I can do subtle stuff as well). I like interesting topics--last year I did one about an abused girl with 3 personalities. I don't want anything too hokey or cliched. Should be about 7-12 minutes.

Thanks for your help!

Dramatic Interp piece. [Aug. 11th, 2008|11:23 pm]

This may be a bit of a stretch, but I was in a dramatic interpretation competition, and there was a piece that a girl did that I would love to use for an audition, but I need help finding it.

I think it was called "Pink" or something like that. It was about a girl in South Africa whose slave (the slave's name was Nelly) went against her or something like that. At the end she's talking about how she misses the pink cakes that Nelly used to make her.

Help me out!

I just thought this community needs some love because it hasn't been updated in foreva and I think this is a great idea so I was wondering if anyone had cut "The Perks of being a Wallflower" for competition? I think I might want to use it next year
